Be involved and join a committee!
As a member of KCMPI be involved. Whether your specialty is fundraising or recordkeeping, there is a committee that fits your niche. The committees listed below offer great opportunities to learn more about KCMPI, network with other members, and work toward committee goals. Affiliate Membership Committee
Contacts newly registered affiliate members to welcome them to the Chapter and include those members in all chapter correspondence. Keeps updated records of affiliate members contact information, tracks anniversary dates, and collects affiliate membership dues.
Audit Committee
The committee will assist the Board of Directors in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities relating to the quality and integrity of the Chapter's financial reporting processes. The committee will review the financial accounts of the Chapter and report to the Board of Directors no less than once a year and/or as directed by the VP of Finance. The committee shall be made up of those who do not have any financial authority within the Chapter.
CMP Committee
Coordinates the comprehensive CMP Study Group program, establishing a schedule of study dates, times, location and instructors. Communicates activities to the Chapter and establishes Study Group participation fees.
Directory Committee
Works with our partner, Naylor Publications, on the printed membership directory, including design of cover, assisting Naylor with prospective advertisers, collecting material from KCMPI committees, and requesting members to update their contact information.
Field 2 Table Committee
Plans the details and manages the logistics/execution of the fundraising dinner that takes place on a local farm, using local fresh ingredients and services.
Fundraising Committee
Determines viable fundraising opportunities available to the Chapter. Coordinates KCMPI volunteers and schedules in order to maximize benefit.
Governance & Nomination Committee
Chaired and selected by the Immediate Past President in accordance with the Chapter Bylaws and Polices. Coordinates and oversees the candidate selection and election process for the Chapter Board members. Fulfills oversight responsibilities relating to developing and implementing sound governance policies.
Holiday Party Committee
Coordinates and plans the annual holiday party; including venue selection, securing sponsorships, promotions and on-site logistics.
Job Bank Committee
Serves as an informal, confidential liaison for Chapter members seeking employment; and maintains a list of local job openings in the hospitality industry, as well as a list of possible internships to post on the Chapter website.
Leadership Committee
Promotes volunteer opportunities within the Chapter. Maintains a master volunteer list and connects interested members with the appropriate committee. Coordinates volunteer recognition programs throughout the year.
Marketing ( I am MPI, I love what we do ) Committee
Invites KCMPI members to submit stories about their involvement in KCMPI. Submit three KCMPI membership stories to Nationals using the designated Web site form.
Member Retention Committee
Develops and implements an incentive program to inspire current members. Ensures members are recognized on their KCMPI anniversaries and is responsible for planning the annual member appreciation reception.
Monthly Program Committee
Creates and coordinates monthly educational programs around an annual program theme. Each monthly program has a designated lead person who is responsible for developing the program and coordinates all logistics with the host facility.
MPI Foundation Liaison
Attends quarterly conference call with MPI Headquarters and provides updates on the Foundation to the Board.
New Member Committee
Develops and implements an incentive program to recruit new members. Arranges speaking opportunities at local college hospitality classes and plans a reception for prospective new members each August.
Newsletter Committee
Gathers articles, photographs, and other pertinent information to report news related to KCMPI and/or the hospitality industry. This publication is called the KCMPI Times and is distributed to members every other month.
Professional Education Conference (PEC) Committee
Organizes KCMPI s annual Professional Educational Conference by establishing educational objectives, selecting a creative program theme and design, and working with speakers to provide relevant content. Coordinates event logistics and budget, solicits sponsorships and exhibitors. Designs promotional and printed materials and post-event evaluations.
Public Relations Committee
Creates and distributes monthly media releases to local, regional and national media on KCMPI activities and news, follows up with media on issued releases and initiates news stories in various publications.
Scholarship Committee
Oversees the Chapter scholarships program, including setting the criteria for eligibility and promoting the program through various mediums. This committee also communicates with the Board of Directors regarding eligible applicants.
Social Media Committee
Creates and solicits content for Chapter's LinkedIn, FaceBook, and and Twitter accounts. Works with Chapter's Vice President of Communication and the Chapter's President to approve content.
Strategic Alliance
Seeks out members and non-members (locally and nationally) that wish to showcase their facilities and services to KCMPI members. Matches prospective sponsors with pertinent KCMPI events. Works in conjunction with all committees and Chapter Administrator by handling the tracking of all donations and ROI for sponsors.
Website Committee
Works with KCMPI s board and committee chairs to keep the Chapter website current, focuses on driving traffic to the website, and looks for ways to improve website design and content.
